Sand Castle - Activity for children on rainy days.

In Europe, there are heat, and here in Scotland the weather is like autumn. How is 18 degrees Celsius then I jump for joy and shouting - it's summer! Unfortunately, it happened maybe 3 times.
We were not at the beach this year, although the beach is located 18 miles from our town, but unfortunately it is too cold and it rains mostly at weekends. So we let the beaches to our house.

The idea was taken from the book Mister Maker Let's Make It!
Building a "fictional" sand castle is very simple.

We will need:

• a small bag of sand
• glue
• scissors
• roll of toilet paper or towels

 Of course, after such a fun sand will be all over the house. Be ready for vacuuming the house, and not once.

How to Make a Cardboard Box Car.

Everyone, almost everyone knows that cats and children always seem to be attracted to cardboard boxes. So I decided to make the box even better! In the virtual world you can find a lot of great projects that you can do with the boxes {see here}

What you’ll need:
large box

strong tape

cutter and scissors

ruler,

pencil

hot-glue gun

acrylic or tempera paint 

paintbrush

Crochet Angry Bird and Green Pig

Being a mother of two children is not easy, but I believe it is easier than taking care of one, maybe it is experienced. I sometimes I break my rules about watching TV via my child, or videos on you tube, then my son sitting and blind in these treacherous box - TV. So, I did crochet angry byrds. I'm crocheting just round the body, the rest have I done with felt - easy. Piggies are not identical, but it is not important, my son had a great fun, and I can sit at the computer for a while.

 Son requested a slingshot yet, so dad looking for a suitable stick.

Colours in nature - Activity for kids

Great ideas for learning about colours. I love outdoor learning ideas for kids!
With a few paint chips, you can head outdoors with the kids to explore the many varieties of colours found in nature by going on an outdoor adventure colour hunt together.

How to do Outdoor Color Hunt?

• a few paint chip cards
• scissors
• twine to tie or a binder ring
• punch to make a large hole in each shade

Kai is always up for any excuse to go outside, so this activity was a great! Although my two year son quickly got bored look of colours, but we were out and had a good time. Sure we get back to the fun.

Tell me a story... Little Knight.

Story stones are brilliant for the development of spoken language and thinking skills and creativity and imagination play. Above all it's fun for us and for our children.



I drew and described the story, especially for my little son. Simple and unique because it tells a little bit about my boy.

The story is rhymed in my native language, so I'm sorry, but I can not translate the rhyme - maybe in the future;-)

Animals - a simple collage

Often you don't need talent to create something nice and eye-catching, and as with this, you will assist your child, believe me - it will be beautiful!

 What will we need:

•      child that we are able to persuade to cooperate ;-)
•      colored paper
•      crayons
•      scissors
•      glue

He agreed that he would help me a little :-)

Step 1. Coloring sheet in colors selected animals.

 

Step 2. Draw simple geometric shapes.
Step 3. Cut out shapes.
Step 4. Stick it.  
 

Done. Easy and effective. This way prepared, we can frame the paper animals and hang in the room of your child.

Of course, it’s a well-known fact that in Scotland it rains or it will rain, so you won’t be too sur­prised by today’s mete­o­ro­log­i­cal theme.

When the outside is rainy or cold is the kids are bored.
...So I prepared the tasks that you can do with your child.

The first task: Make Styrofoam Ships 

Fun Rock Painting Craft Ideas.

Rock painting is an economical and fun way to spend a few afternoons. And with a little creativity rocks can become anything! (And they are free!). I think it is more fun for older children. My 17 months old son after 5 minutes, got bored. He wanted to paint a cat, not stones. But it doesn't  matter, as he went to bed I had a great time painting rocks.

You will need:

smooth stones

acrylic paint 

paintbrushes

some type of  acrylic varnish

Home-made Play-dough.

Make yourself Play-dough for kids to play with because they would love it. It is very simple. You will probably find all the ingredients in your kitchen.

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups of plain flour

3 tablespoons of cooking oil

1 cup of salt

boiling water {as many as you need}

Food coloring or paint for kids {I used the paint}

Essential oils make it smell good { but I do not recommend because the kids might want to eat it.} you could also use glitter.

  Stir together until you get a nice texture of  play-dough.

In Scotland still warm. We enjoy the beautiful weather and spend as much time outside. Summer in Scotland lasts only a few days ;-)

Every day, as my son grows up I shrink my time, but this is the best time. Less time to blog, but more for my family. 

Recently I made for my son cards with emotions. You can play them in different ways: to show, tell, etc...
