Sand Castle - Activity for children on rainy days.

This post was originally published in The 12 of August 2015. I like this post, because it is a very current each year.
In Europe, there are heat, and here in Scotland the weather is like autumn. How is 18 degrees Celsius then I jump for joy and shouting - it's summer! Unfortunately, it happened maybe 3 times.
We were not at the beach this year, although the beach is located 18 miles from our town, but unfortunately it is too cold and it rains mostly at weekends. So we let the beaches to our house.

The idea was taken from the book Mister Maker Let's Make It!
Building a "fictional" sand castle is very simple.

We will need:

  • a small bag of sand
  • glue
  • scissors
  • roll of toilet paper or towels

Of course, after such a fun sand will be all over the house. Be ready for vacuuming the house, and not once.

Paper Plate Witch - DIY

For the week Halloween. Although I have little time, I always find time for Halloween crafts for kids. Unfortunately, photos do not always look like I would have wished, but not always possible to arrange everything, because the most important thing is having fun with your kids.

We will need:

  • paper plate
  • black, red and white (or other colours) paper
  • scissors
  • glue, stapler
  • black pen
Paint the paper plate with green paint. Next cut out a withe's hat and eye. Trace your child's handprint  on red paper (6 times, you can folded paper so you  only have to cut once or twice). Once the green paint is dry, glue on the hat (I use also stapler), handprint hair, and the eyes. draw on the witches face.

If you liked this one, check out my Halloween Inspiration.

Halloween is a fun time for all, especially children, who get to dress up costume, eat yummy treats and carve pumpkins, but also the time when we use candles, which are sometimes the cause of the tragedy. Remember to be careful at this time. Sometimes just a moment of your inattention to cause the accident. How then to keep? I encourage you to read the article ''Halloween Fire Safety Guide''

Ice Creame - Activity for kids

Vacation this year does not spoil us. Summer is rainy and cold, especially here in Scotland. But you can not break down, you have to enjoy every moment of the day when even for a moment the sun will shine.

Of course activity with children must be typical holiday. Necessarily, ice cream must be in the summer, not always cold. My son loves doing them with blocks, or paper, and we eat our imaginary ice cream.

Ice cream can be decorated in various ways, everything depends on our ideas and what just we have at home.
For busy parents I have prepared a free printable for download. (jpg or pdf). You can download it HERE In this link you can find the version that appears in the pictures.

Our ice cream was very delicious and very quickly disappeared :-)

How To Make A Toilet Paper Roll Train

My kid love trains, if your kids love too,or just love crafts it's a great activity for theirs. they will have a lot of fun creating this toilet paper roll train.

What will we need?

  • Toilet Paper Roll Tubes
  • Craft Paint
  • Yarn
  • Hole Punch or Something to Make a Hole in the Cardboard Tube
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Scissors
  • Tape

How to Make a Train

  1. Paint your cardboard tubes various bright colors. Cut shapes out of one of the tubes to create both the top of the engine and caboose.
  2. Cut as many wheels as you need.
  3. Punch small holes of each tube. These are your attachment points for the yarn. Next cut the yarn to length.
  4. Combine all carriages and start playing.

This train is made up of recycled materials, which makes it an inexpensive craft idea. In addition, my son loves doing this.

Easy Activity for Kids - Pom Poms and Straws {THE ORDINARY MOMENTS 15} #3

As I think of some great fun for my little boy, I have to expect that he would be interested in this a maximum of 20 minutes. Usually the most ordinary games are hit.

What will need:

  • drinking straw
  • craft pompoms

The rules of our activity (that can be broken by younger kids): Blowing pompoms from point A to point B.

What they are learning as they play:

physical: Blowing pompoms are great oral-motor-skills practice.

personal, social and emotional: concentration, HEAPS of playful fun!

Kind of  this ordinary moment, ordinary things, but as I look at my son, I see in his eyes, passion, determination and extraordinary creativity. I am suggesting to him play, and in the end, instead of something to do at home I stare at my kid.

Great Grandparents Gift

Hi, everyone in New Year. I hope that this year will be better than last one and all your dreams come true.

In Poland, where I come from, we celebrate Grandmother's Day and Grandfather's day. This days are the same important as Mother's Day or Father's Day. Is celebrated on the 21 January - Grandmother's Day and the 22 January - Grandfather's day. Why we celebrate these days? The answer is very easy - we ♥ our grandparents.

On the occasion of the Grandparents' Day I have prepared easy activity for children, so that they can make a little gift for grandparents. Certainly, younger children will need our help.

What will we need?

  • photos
  • flexible magnetic tape {to buy craft shops}
  • scissors
  • permanent marker
  • laminator
  • laminating pouches
  • needle
  • yarn

I think that such a gift that was made by the grandchildren will make the joy of his grandfather.

Colours in nature - Activity for kids

Great ideas for learning about colours. I love outdoor learning ideas for kids!
With a few paint chips, you can head outdoors with the kids to explore the many varieties of colours found in nature by going on an outdoor adventure colour hunt together.
How to do Outdoor Color Hunt?

  • a few paint chip cards
  • scissors
  • twine to tie or a binder ring
  • punch to make a large hole in each shade

Kai is always up for any excuse to go outside, so this activity was a great! Although my two year son quickly got bored look of colours, but we were out and had a good time. Sure we get back to the fun.

Have fun!
